If your looking to spot some beaver action and get some possible river secrets and local legends then Travis is the guy for you! F.Y.I: We all know when Cara K is on the scene because she has her dog Jack to announce her arrival. Cara isn’t coming or going anywhere quietly with this best friend! Don’t let Cara’s quiet demeanor fool you, when this girl gets on the water she’s “Cam Strap Queen!” She is so fond of her cam straps that she has been thinking about starting a clothing line made only out of cam straps and other rafting accessories. You think it can’t be done? Well, we have the pictures to prove otherwise! Watch out Calvin Klein!

F.Y.I: Don’t let George’s boyish good looks fool you into thinking that all this local guy knows is rafting. George is a Mechanical Engineering student at Montana State University and is also pursuing a career in yoga instructing. This flexible guide will take you on a most relaxing ride!

F.Y.I.: Chris is all grown up this year, and though he still needs us to tell him what time it is even if he’s right next to the clock, he’s now a seasoned veteran of T.R.G. This redheaded bombshell can keep up with the big boys! Chris is majoring in Wildlife Biology at University of Alaska Fairbanks and will be sure to let you in on his wealth of knowledge. Hop aboard with Chris and you won’t be disappointed!

F.Y.I.: Tired of being used and abused, Buddy moved to Alaska after years of being George Carlin’s stunt double in Hollywood. Buddy may seem all business and no play when you see him scattering around the office and trying to get that perfect photo, but you’re only seeing half the picture. Buddy is a fun loving guy who, when he’s not working, is spending time with his two best friends, Blue and Crescent.

F.Y.I: This brown haired beauty was born and raised in Talkeetna, Alaska and has the honor of having the famous musician Steve Durr as her father! Cara is one half of the dynamic duo in managing T.R.G. and she is the glue that holds down the fort, or should I say yurt! When you are looking for immediate satisfaction than Cara is the one to see. Cara’s quick wit keeps everyone in the T.R.G. family happy. When Cara isn’t in Talkeetna in the summer working at T.R.G. and singing back up vocals for her father, she is traveling the globe searching for adventure. However, when she comes back to the good ol’ U.S. of A. she spends her winters breaking hearts on the slopes of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Name: Ashley, General Manager

Hometown: Thomaston, Connecticut
F.Y.I.: Meet the other half of the dynamic duo and glue! Ashley is an East Coast Girl who graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut. After spending a summer in Talkeetna she decided to call this home and has been living here in Alaska year round ever since. Ashley decided to trade in her tennis skirts for fishing waders! Well, not really, because she can still be seen walking around town with her matching tote and cardigan sweater, you may be able to take the girl out of Connecticut but you obviously can’t take the Connecticut out of this girl!! We put her sweet smile and quick wit to work by putting her in charge of our marketing and advertising department. Believe us when we say that whatever Ashley is selling, we’re all buying!

Name: Jacob, Fishing Guide
A.K.A: Jakey-Poo
Age: 28, Gemini
Hometown: Cazadero, California
F.Y.I: Jacob is our on-call fishing guide who takes our adventurous clients on the river who want to do overnight rafting and fishing adventures. He is currently studying biology at Sonoma State College in California. When Jacob waltzes in town he causes a lot of fluttering hearts with the local girls.

Name: Nicole, Guide
A.K.A.: Alias Unknown
Age: 30 something (would you guess it?) Scorpio
Hometown: Fairbanks, Alaska
F.Y.I.: Nicole can be spotted roller-blading around town with her two dogs and when she’s not blading she’s rafting. This pint-sized guide is jam packed with power and pizzazz. Nicole also has a radio show here in Talkeetna and although Howard Stern has approached her numerous times about coming to New York and working for him, she can’t give up her Talkeetna life.

Name: Craig, Driver/Mechanic
A.K.A: Craigers, Little Brother
Age: 30 something, Scorpio
Hometown: Colorado
F.Y.I.: Craig is always up for a laugh and more than willing to help out any damsel in distress. But don’t worry guys, Craig is a stand up guy so he would eventually come to your rescue, too. Craig is so handy that he has recently branched out into vehicle maintenance, although he vehemently claims he is “not a mechanic.” Craig is one half of the fabulous Aldrich duo, along with his brother Kelsey.

F.Y.I.: Meet Kelsey, the older brother! When Kelsey isn’t busy showing his little bro the ropes he’s busy cooking up something fun to do. Kelsey is another one of our jack-of-all-trades who is always up for any job or challenge! Watch out folks because these two really are double trouble but twice the fun!

F.Y.I.: If you take some time to get to know Randy its quite apparent there is far more to this guy than dashing good looks. Randy is quite the scholar and world traveler, who enjoys photographing the world. Randy soared to new heights when he climbed Mt. McKinley this summer! When he isn’t rafting you safely down the river this healthy young lad can be found working on an organic farm, or hanging out with his dad, Buddy. F.Y.I.: Like the bear, Leighan is an elusive creature, and you are lucky if you catch a glimpse of her! Though she is one of our favorite guides, she is often away in the mountains, climbing or volunteering for the National Park Service. However, if she is your guide, you are in for a treat, because this Alaskan native really knows her stuff!

Hometown: Talkeetna, Alaska
F.Y.I.: Ayla is spending her second year here at Talkeetna River Guides in the office. Ayla first started off wanting to raft but once she met her two co-workers, Cara & Ashley, there was no way she was giving up her office job! Ayla recently graduated from Su-Valley High School and will be attending college in the fall at Mesa State in Colorado. She enjoys horticulture and we have designated her our resident “flower girl.”

A.K.A.: Alias Unknown
Age: Many Moons, Virgo
Hometown: Syracuse, New York
F.Y.I.: In 1968, Steve left a recording contract, and the glitter and gold of New York for the adventure in the Alaskan wilderness. He is still living in the log cabin he built north of Talkeetna when he was 21 years old, though he lives the tent life in the summers. Now he entertains rafters on the Talkeetna River Trip with his original songs and stories. Steve’s early Alaskan adventures are chronicled in his father, Bob Durr’s book “The Coldman Cometh,” available at local book stores.

F.Y.I.: Libby is the NKOTB, new kid on the block for those of you pretending you don’t know what that means. This little firecracker is one of our “wilderness women,” born and raised in Homer, Alaska. Not only the new kid, Libby is also the baby of the group but that just gives Libby more reason to kick some butt out on those rivers. Some have described her as “precious” but “rugged” so watch out because she is one tough cookie. Libby is currently attending Colorado College and is interested in starting a 1980’s Sunglass Company, which would sell sunglasses that would be found in that decade. She will start off the business with her very own personal collection! We wish Libby the best of luck in the business and are glad to have her on our crew!

F.Y.I.: If you thought Bali the country was exciting, wait till you meet TRG’s own Bali, Evan Bali that is! Evan is a two year TRG veteran, returning to Talkeetna yet again after what he deemed the “best summer ever.” Go on a trip with him and we guarantee that you will have the “best TRIP ever!”

F.Y.I: Margie’s life just seems to be on a path of excitement and natural leadership! Margaret has had years of experience manning a crew; she was once a captain of a commercial fishing boat, so running T.R.G. was small fish for this lady. As if running a rafting company wasn’t a challenge enough Margie decided to enter medical school and is currently on her way to become an ER physician! However, Margie isn’t purely work, work, work, she can let loose with the best of ‘em. Margie has a strong passion for the arts and while attending medical school in Seattle she often peruses the halls of Cornish College of Arts to admire local artwork and artists. Margie is responsible for T.R.G. being what it is today, a successful, productive, and most importantly a fun place to work.
