Rafting Trips: Scenic Floats
and Overnight Alaska Float Trips

Click here to book your trip today!

Our rafting and fishing trips will take you through the remote wilderness of Denali State Park, just a stone's throw away from Denali National Park's wild south side, with breathtaking views of glacial moraines, boulder fields, granite canyons and sparkling hematite beaches.

Float through spectacular country where wildlife abounds. It is quite common to see eagles, bears, fox, wolf, lynx, beavers, moose, as well as many species of birds and fish.

Although clear weather affords spectacular photogenic sights, many of the nuances of this wilderness truly come alive on cloudy and rainy days. Talkeetna River Guides provides raingear, boots, hats, and gloves so that you may enjoy your trip rain or shine!

Many of our lengthier trips include naturalist interpretations, gourmet food, and first-class camping. If you're a bit pressed for time, we have shorter trips that whet your appetite while giving you a taste of the true Alaska...

Daily Floating/Rafting Trips

2 Hour Talkeetna River Natural History Float Trip
Few places in the world can equal the scale and beauty of Mt. McKinley and the Alaska Range. On this two hour narrated Talkeetna River Natural History Float Trip, you will see spectacular vistas of this magnificent scenery. Explore the lower end of the famous Talkeetna River, which is steeped in history and the Alaskan pioneering spirit.
At the river's edge, you will participate in a brief safety lecture before launching and floating down six to eight miles of pristine river. The Talkeetna river is a glacier-fed waterway teeming with salmon and other wildlife. Our guides are versed in describing the flora, fauna, and scenery along the way. We will look for bears, eagles, fish, beavers, moose, fox, and waterfowl during this float. We will stop to visit two active Bald Eagles' nests, see beaver dams, look for bear tracks, and float past an old miner's cabin... all before joining the Mighty Susitna River for the loop back to Talkeetna.

On the Susitna River, there is a stunning view of Mt. McKinley (20, 320') and the entire Alaska Range. On clear days, the view is amazing. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos! For a small additional fee, we have a professional photographer available to take pictures of you, the raft, and your guide – with a stunning backdrop of Mt. McKinley!

Brief Description
The West Fork of the Chulitna is one of the most intriguing expeditions we have offered recently (it's a favorite of our guides). This journey through wild and scenic country wanders in and out of both Denali National Park and Denali State Park. This trip allows you to intimately explore a wide array of habitats within a short distance. The journey begins with an off-road, four-wheel-drive, (on a historic miners' "cat" trail) into Denali State Park, across the Bull River, to the Dunkle Hills mines on the edge of the National Park. The trip affords great tundra hiking, river rafting, and spectacular views through canyons and the glacial moraines, with interesting geological formations along the way. A wide variety of wildlife species are endemic here, including brown & black bear, moose, porcupine, wolf, eagle, and fox (we even saw an osprey... unusual here... on a prior trip).
