“You can’t be unhappy in the middle of a big, beautiful river.” -Jim Harrison

Welcome to Talkeetna River Guides! Your local family owned raft company!

Whether you are an experienced adventurer or a family traveling with children, TRG‘s scenic float trips fit a broad spectrum of tastes. Few places in the world rival the scenic beauty of Denali (known also as “the Great One” in the Tanana Athabascan dialect) and the glacier-fed river valleys of the southern slopes of the Alaska Range.

Located just 120 road miles northeast of Anchorage, the quaint, historic town of Talkeetna sits near the confluence of three mighty rivers, the Susitna, the Chulitna, and the Talkeetna. TRG operates out of a yurt on Main Street.

Other activities in the area include hiking in Denali State Park, flightseeing amidst the spectacular peaks of the Alaska Range, and remote wilderness exploration in the unspoiled reaches of Denali National Park and the nearby Talkeetna Mountains — just to name a few.

Great afternoon in Talkeetna!

We had a great few hours riding the river as a family of 4 with young kids. They were so nice and knowledgeable of the area, and we could spot some birds, test some berries and learn about the ecosystem while having fun. Highly recommended if you are looking for a smooth ride with young kids and a bit of history about the area, this is the place to go.

Thank you Talkeetna River Guides for a great sunny afternoon in Talkeetna!!

Incredible kid-friendly float trip!

My young daughter (7 years) and I had the best time together floating the 2 hour Talkeetna River trip! Our guide Chris was so patient with my little girl who has special needs – easing her anxiety and answering hundreds of questions about wildlife. I was also impressed by how the guides accommodated a few elderly people with some mobility challenges, and even someone using a walker. I can’t recommend this trip enough to everyone … that is if you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic, low-key wilderness adventure. Not many tour businesses are independently run like TRG and their 25+ years experience plus the personal attention to each customer is evident in all you do. Well done TRG and thank you for such a memorable trip!

Just wow!

We booked the 4-hr river float online before our recent Alaska trip and loved it! Our guide Andrew was terrific! He did an outstanding job navigating the channels of the Chulitna River. It’s chilly on the river so be sure to wear a warm jacket. Highly recommend this company! An added bonus is that they take pictures of your take-off which can be downloaded to your phone for an additional modest fee. We were well-pleased with our float.
